Chapter Fifteen

I wait sitting outside in my car smack dab in front of the jailhouse where the jailbirds are to be released at. I wait for Ivy. I know she’ll be getting released very soon and I want to make sure her ass gets out alright.

Flopping my head onto the headrest, I can’t believe Yazmin is taking the fall for me. That gun she found was in my bedroom’s dresser drawer. I left that there. Remembering that night like it was yesterday, that body that’s on that gun was the butler. That very first robbery I did with Rush, Ivy, D-Note, and Chas.

Punching my fist on the steering wheel repeatedly, I yell, “Damn it, damn it!” Then I jump, jerking my body, frightened by a knock I hear on my passenger’s window. Looking over, I see Ivy’s creamy white complexion staring right back at me through the window. A few of her black dreads dangle in her face. I observe her sunken in face, the paleness to her skin, follow by her dry crusty lips. I can tell she probably hasn’t eaten a bit in that jail or slept the whole time she was there.

Pouting at the bitch, I decide to unlock the car’s doors, letting her get in.

“I see you and Chas came through, huh?” she says, flopping her smelly ass into my passenger’s seat and closing the door.

“Damn, you stink!” I shout, scrunching up my nose at her.

She turns looking at me. “Duh, now take me to a motel, I need to freshen up.”

I frown. “Take you? This isn’t driving Miss Daisy in this bitch.”

She turns her body completely around so she can face me as she sits in the passenger’s seat. “Oh, officer I didn’t know she was going to go out and kill that man. I thought she just wanted to get a little kinky and do a threesome with her husband for the night. She told me she had to take care of something and wanted me to hump her husband that she drugged and blindfold. But then the next day I find out that her husband’s dad was killed and his wife was being blamed for it. But I don’t believe the wife did it.” She smiles, giving me a smirk as I turn around to look to opposite way, glancing out my driver’s window. With a tight lip, I say, “Alright bitch, you win for now.”

I whirl back around, looking at her as she repositions herself in the passenger’s seat. “I need some clothes first, though.” She points down at her clothes that looks like they have seen better day’s ages ago.

Starting up the car quickly, I pull off away from the curb already knowing where my first destination will be.

After the longest ten minute driving ever I had to endure, I find myself parking in front of Chas’ house.

Turning off the engine and removing my key, I say, “I’ll be right back. I have to get something.” But the bitch ignores me and opens the passenger’s door and steps out.
